Tilak-Samson’s centuries help India win the T20I series 3-1

India defeated South Africa by 135 runs in the fourth and final T20I. With this, the team also won the series 3-1. India won the toss and chose to bat at the Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg. The visitors scored 283 runs on the basis of centuries by Tilak Verma and Sanju Samson. Tilak scored an unbeaten 120 which was his consecutive century in the series and Samson scored an unbeaten 109.

Facing a target of 284 runs, South Africa lost 4 wickets for just 10 runs. Tristan Stubbs and David Miller tried to handle the innings, but the team was all out for 148 runs in 18.2 overs. The defeat of 135 runs is South Africa’s biggest defeat in T20.

After winning the toss and batting first, Team India scored 73 runs in the powerplay. Abhishek Sharma was out after scoring 36 runs. Tilak Verma coming in at number 3 batted fast and scored a century in just 41 balls. Tilak scored an unbeaten 120 runs off 47 balls with 9 fours and 10 sixes. For this performance, he received the Player of the Match and Player of the Series awards.

Tristan Stubbs, who won the second T20 for South Africa, was seen showing fight in the fourth match as well. He shared an 86-run partnership with David Miller for the fifth wicket. He was dismissed after scoring 43 runs off 29 balls, his innings included 3 fours and 2 sixes. He also scored the highest 113 runs for South Africa in the series.

The Proteas team, which came out to chase the target of 284 runs, had a bad start. The team lost 4 wickets within 10 runs in 3 overs. Reeza Hendricks and Heinrich Klaasen could not even open the account. Ryan Rickelton scored 1 and Aiden Markram scored 8 runs. The team scored 30 runs in 6 overs of the powerplay.

Stubbs, Miller and Jansen showed some fight for a while, but there was no support from the other end. The team could only score 148 runs in 18.2 overs and lost the match by a huge margin of 135 runs. Arshdeep Singh took 3 wickets for India, Varun Chakaravarthy and Axar Patel got 2-2 wickets each.
