Wimbledon 2024: Alcaraz-Djokovic to clash in the final for the second consecutive year

Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz will face off at centre court once again for the Wimbledon title on Sunday. This would be a repeat of last year’s final where Alcaraz won in a 5 set thriller. On Centre Court on Friday, the 21-year-old Alcaraz played as brilliantly as he has throughout the tournament, weathering a storm from Daniil Medvedev in the first set before winning 6-7(1), 6-3, 6-4, 6-4.

The third seed will face seven-time winner Novak Djokovic, who beat Italian Lorenzo Musetti 6-4, 7-6(2), 6-4, in the title clash.

“I think I’m not new anymore. I know how I’m going to feel before and I’m going to do everything I did last year. I hope it’s a good day for the Spanish people,” Alcaraz, the defending champion, said of the final. That last sentence was in reference to Sunday’s Euro 2024 final between Spain and England.

Novak Djokovic defeated Lorenzo Musetti to secure his place in the Wimbledon 2024 men’s singles final. Musetti gave his best against the veteran player and fought till the end. However, Djokovic managed to win in straight sets. Now the Serbian player will play his 10th Wimbledon final and 37th Grand Slam final aiming for a record tying 8th title at Wimbledon. On July 14, he will face Alcaraz, who won the first semi-final.
