Wimbledon 2024: Alcaraz, Medvedev make winning start

On the first day of the prestigious and oldest tennis Grand Slam, Wimbledon, the seeded players went on a winning streak defeating their opponents. Third-seeded and defending champion Carlos Alcaraz and fifth-seeded Daniil Medvedev opened with victories over Mark Lajal and Aleksandar Kovacevich, respectively.

Spain’s Carlos Alcaraz defeated Mark Lajal in three straight sets in the match on Monday. However, Carlos got a tough fight from Mark in the first two sets. Carlos raised his game under pressure and won the first two sets 7-6, 7-5. In the third set, however, Mark was not able to cope with the efforts of Carlos. Carlos won the set 6-2 and took entered into the second round. Carlos won the match in two hours and 23 minutes.

Easy opener for Medvedev

Last years semi-finalist at Wimbledon, Daniil Medvedev defeated Alexander Kovacevich in three straight sets in his opening match. Medvedev won the first set against Kovacevich 6-3. Medvedev won the next set 6-4. Medvedev advanced by winning the third set 6-2.
