Daniil Medvedev and Holger Rune, the tournament’s 8th & 9th seeds upsets in the first round. Rune was defeated by Nicolas Jarry 4-6, 4-6, 7-5, 6-3, 6-4 and Medvedev was defeated by Benjamin Bonzi 7-6, 3-6, 7-6, 6-2.
