Emergency location service launched for Android users in India

Google has launched Emergency Location Service (ELS) in India. Millions of Android phone users in the country will now have access to this special service from Google. Users will benefit from this feature during emergencies. Through this feature, users will be able to make emergency calls or send text messages even without a network connection. Users will be able to connect with police, medical, and fire departments for emergency services. Google’s feature will share the user’s exact location to ensure that help can be provided without any difficulty.
Special ELS Service Launched
This Google service has currently been launched in Uttar Pradesh. In UP, users will be able to send their exact location (ELS) by calling 112 in case of an emergency. Users will benefit from the built-in emergency service on their phones, which will send the location message or call to the emergency service provider. This Google service can be used for police, fire brigade, or medical assistance.
How does ELS work?
This special Google service uses the user’s device’s GPS, Wi-Fi, or cellular network to send the exact location (ELS) to the emergency service provider. Google has stated that this service will work on all versions of Android 6 and above. It can share the location with an accuracy of 50 meters from the user’s device. As soon as a user is in trouble, they can call the emergency service number 112 and share their location. ELS has been integrated with the emergency helpline number 112.
The company stated that this Google service is based on machine learning, which alerts the emergency service provider by sending a call or message through Android Fused Location. Google claims that 20 million calls and messages were tested for this service. Google recently also rolled out an Emergency Live Video feature, which allows users to share a live video feed.
