Instagram launches ‘Teen Account’ feature in India
Meta has launched a special feature ‘Teen Account’ for Instagram users in India. After a long wait, this feature of Instagram has been rolled out for Indian users as well. The social media platform has launched this feature keeping in mind the safety of teenagers using Instagram.
Meta has added Teen Account feature for teenagers on its photo and video sharing platform. This feature will provide many built-in privacy, parental control, restricted interaction features to the parents of teenagers to keep an eye on them. For teen accounts, Meta has added an age verification system to the app, so that teenagers cannot create an account by showing their incorrect age.
Instagram has set multiple levels of security on the social media platform for children under the age of 16 in India. These include features like parental control, private accounts, message restrictions, sensitive content control, time limit reminders, limited interaction, sleep mode.
Parental supervision feature has also been added to Instagram account for teenagers. This feature has been given to parents to keep an eye on the Instagram activity of teenagers. In this feature, parents will be able to see the list of people contacted by teenagers in the last 7 days. However, parents will not be allowed to read messages through this feature.
Apart from this, parents will be able to set daily usage limit for teenagers’ Instagram account. Also, Instagram usage can be completely restricted for a few hours, so that teenagers cannot use Instagram during that time. A feature has been added to Instagram, so that teenagers cannot use Instagram between 10 pm and 7 am.
