3.1 magnitude tremor recorded in Dehradun

Earthquake tremors were felt in the capital Dehradun on Sunday, August 25 night. The intensity of the earthquake was measured at 3.1 on the Richter scale. The epicenter of the earthquake is also said to be Dehradun, which was about five kilometers below the ground. The administration will keep a close watch on the possibility of an earthquake for the next three to four days.

These earthquake tremors were felt in some areas of the capital. However, the intensity of the earthquake that occurred at around 9:56 pm was very low, so it did not cause any damage. The District Disaster Control Room also got this information from the website of the National Center for Seismology. After this, the District Disaster Control Room became active.

District Disaster Management Officer Rishabh Kumar said there is no damage of any kind from this tremor. All the tehsils were called from the control room. Tremors were not felt at many places. However, three to four days will be closely monitored. It happens that after a mild tremor, major tremors can also come during this time. For this, all the systems have been alerted.

Uttarakhand is in Zone 5

Uttarakhand is a sensitive state in terms of earthquakes and there is a need to be extra cautious here. Uttarakhand comes in Zone 5 which is highly sensitive for earthquakes. Zone 5 includes most of Rudraprayag district along with Bageshwar, Pithoragarh, Chamoli, Uttarkashi districts. Udham Singh Nagar, Nainital, Champawat, Haridwar, Pauri and Almora are in Zone 4. Some areas of Dehradun and Tehri districts come in Zone 4 and some areas in highly sensitive Zone 5.

Last Tuesday, two tremors of earthquake were felt in Jammu and Kashmir. The epicenter of the first earthquake was in Baramulla district at a depth of 5 kilometers from the ground. The intensity of this earthquake was recorded at 4.9 on the Richter scale. The second tremor of the earthquake was recorded at 4.8 on the Richter scale. The epicenter of the earthquake was at a depth of 10 kilometers from the ground.
