The special thing is that this year a record number of pilgrims have reached Gangotri and Yamunotri Dham, while the number of pilgrims in Kedarnath has reached close to last year’s numbers.

The doors of Yamunotri and Gangotri Dham were opened on 22 April

Chardham Yatra 2023 started on 22nd April this year with the opening of the doors of Gangotri and Yamunotri. The doors of Kedarnath were opened on 25th April and Badrinath Dham was opened on 27th April. Chardham Yatra was in full swing in May and June, but there was some slackness in it when the rains started in mid-July.

In August, travel was badly affected due to blockage of travel routes at many places. Due to road blockage, the number of devotees in Gangotri and Yamunotri Dham remained very less for some days.
