Two day rain alert in 7 districts of Uttarakhand

The Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rain and thundershowers in Uttarakhand on July 17 and July 18. On July 17, there is a possibility of very heavy rain with lightning in some places in Uttarkashi, Dehradun, Nainital, Almora and Pithoragarh districts of Uttarakhand state. Apart from this, there is a possibility of heavy to very heavy rain with lightning in Dehradun, Pauri, Bageshwar, Nainital and Pithoragarh districts of Uttarakhand state on July 18.

The Meteorological Department says that there may be reports of landslides and rock fall in the sensitive areas of these districts. Roads and highways may get blocked at some places due to debris from the hills. The impact of rivers may be more visible at some places in the hilly areas and this may lead to waterlogging in the low-lying areas. The Meteorological Department has suggested that people living near rivers and streams should be careful. Passengers or people coming by vehicle need to be careful while driving. The Meteorological Department has advised people to take shelter in safe places at the time of lightning.
