Uttarakhand girl brings pahadi emotions alive through artwork

In a time where people are mass migrating from their villages towards the big cities, Kanchan Jadli, an emerging artist from Uttarakhand is creating eye-catching artwork with which every pahadi can relate to. A fine arts graduate from Chandigarh, Kanchan was born and bought up in Uttarakhand. After completing her education Kanchan returned to her village where she wanted to make art through which she could show her love for homeland. So she created a simple pahadi character who in her words is ‘like me but also someone who every pahadi could relate to’.

Starting promoting on Social Media

In times of Covid, when people have been confined to their homes, Kanchan judiciously used social media platforms to promote her artwork.  She started posting on Facebook and Instagram pages in order to reach out to greater audience and spread the culture of Uttarakhand.

Her aim is to spread the culture and connect pahadis through simple toons. “I’ll try to cover wide range of topic like costumes, food, folk tales, music, history, tourist attractions, social and environmental issues related to Uttarakhand.”
