Uttarakhand grapples with cold wave
Temperatures hover around the freezing point in many parts of the state
A cold wave sweeping across Uttarakhand with Thursday being the coldest day in 2016 in the state. A similar weather being predicted for the next two days. Biting cold conditions were witnessed in several parts of the Himalayan state and the minimum temperature witnessed a dip in the plains too. In the state capital Dehardun, the minimum temperature was 3.6 degree Celsius. In Mukteshwar, the mercury dipped as low as -2.4 degree Celsius and to -0.2 degree in Tehri. Pant Nagar recorded a minimum temperature of 2.4 degrees. The temperature across the state was around 2 degree Celsius below normal, the Met department said.
On the eve of Christmas, a large number of people here preferred to stay indoors as the daytime temperature too witnessed a decline.
