Uttarakhand weather update: Heavy rain cause damage in Pauri and Uttarkashi
The weather pattern changed in Uttarakhand bringing relief from the soaring temperatures in the plains. The rains have intensified amidst dense clouds in the mountainous regions. Heavy rains have caused considerable damage in Pauri and Uttarkashi. Heavy rains occurred at many places in Pithoragarh and Bageshwar of Kumaon on Tuesday night.
In many villages of Pauri and Uttarkashi, debris entered houses and shops due to torrential rain. Along with this, roads were also blocked at many places. In Sukai and Farsari villages of Bironkhal block of Chaubattakhal, heavy rain caused extensive damage with 30 meters of highway collapsing.
At the same time, there was heavy rain in the evening in the areas situated in the foothills of Mussoorie in Dehradun.
According to the Meteorological Center, today there are chances of rains and gusty winds along with thunderstorms in the hilly districts of the state, Uttarkashi, Chamoli, Rudraprayag, Bageshwar and Pithoragarh as well as Dehradun, Pauri, Tehri, Almora and Champawat. The weather may remain dry in Udham Singh Nagar and Haridwar.
Bright sunshine in most areas
The weather remained dry in Doon since Wednesday morning and bright sunshine was seen in most areas. However, the weather changed after noon and dark clouds started hovering in the sky. In the evening, heavy rain fell for about half an hour in areas like Jakhan, Sahasradhara Road, Malsi, Purkal, Guniyal Village, Bisht Village, Canal Road, Mussoorie Road.
While, there was no rain in the main areas of the city from Dilaram Chowk towards Ghantaghar. There was drizzle in other areas including Asharodi, Clementown, Majra, Patelnagar, Kargi. However, the change in the weather has brought some drop in the mercury.
