Uttarakhand weather update: Rain forecast for 6 districts on August 12

There is a possibility of heavy rain in the hill districts of the state on Monday. The Meteorological Center has issued a yellow alert for heavy rain in some areas of Tehri, Nainital, Champawat, Chamoli and Bageshwar districts including Dehradun, while there are chances of heavy rain in other districts as well.

Meteorologists say that there is a possibility of heavy rain in the hill districts of the state in the coming days as well. They said that, ‘during the rain, be alert in sensitive areas during the day as well as at night.’ While giving instructions, meteorologists said, be more vigilant in sensitive areas during the rain. Also, avoid traveling in mountain areas if not necessary.

Rain in the mountains increased the water level of Ganga in Haridwar-Rishikesh

The effect of torrential rain in the mountainous areas is visible in the plains. Due to heavy rain in Haridwar and Rishikesh, Ganga and its tributaries have come in spate. Ganga piers have been submerged. At around 10 am on Sunday, the Ganga river was flowing 15 cm above the warning line of 339.50 (339.65 meters). The local administration was alerted due to the rising water level of the river. Water police personnel were deployed on the banks and ghats of the Ganga. People living in coastal areas were asked to stay in safe places.
