5.2 magnitude earthquake strikes Greece

The famous European country Greece was shaken by a strong earthquake on Sunday. Earthquake tremors of 5.2 magnitude were felt in northern Greece on Sunday evening. A second strong earthquake tremor occurred about 4 minutes after the first earthquake. The intensity of the second earthquake was measured at 4.2 on the Richter scale. Two earthquake tremors one after the other have filled people’s minds with fear.

Earthquake occurred in this region of Greece

The Athens Institute of Geodynamics has informed that the earthquake on Sunday occurred on the coast of the Chalkidiki Peninsula, about 40 kilometers south-east of Greece’s second largest city Thessaloniki. The first tremor of the earthquake occurred at 7:03 pm local time. At the same time, the second tremor occurred about 4 minutes later. The epicenter of the earthquake was at a depth of 15.9 kilometers below the ground.

Earthquake occurred on Saturday as well

The police and fire department of the Chalkidiki peninsula area have informed that no damage has been reported so far from this earthquake in the area. Earthquake tremors have been felt in a large part of northern Greece. Let us tell you that on Saturday, an earthquake of 3.9 magnitude occurred in the same area. Due to this, more fear has spread among the people.
