Supreme Court dismisses plea to postpone NEET PG 2022 exam

Important update for candidates seeking to postpone NEET PG 2022 exam. The Supreme Court has dismissed the petition seeking postponement of the NEET PG 2022 exam. During the hearing held in the Supreme Court today, May 13, 2022, the apex court said that postponing the examination will affect the system of care and treatment of patients. The division bench hearing the matter agreed with the contention of the central government that there is already a shortage of resident doctors in the hospitals as there were two batches of PG doctors this year. The division bench said any relief would have an impact on the care of patients and the availability of doctors. It will also impact the careers of 2.06 lakh doctors who have registered for NEET-PG 2022 this year.

Hearing on NEET PG 2022 was to be held today

The petition seeking postponement of the Post Graduate Medical Entrance Test, NEET PG 2022 to be held on May 21 was to be heard in the Supreme Court. Supreme Court judges Justice D.Y. Chandrachud and P.S. Narasimha was to be heard by the division bench. The petition had demanded that the process of counseling on the basis of the previous year’s examination has not been completed yet, in such a situation, orders should be given by the apex court to the National Board of Examinations (NBE) to postpone the conduct of the examination for the time being.
