America braces for heatwave

Summer heat is at its peak in the US this time. There is a tremendous heatwave in the country this week. Meanwhile, temperatures in many major cities of the country including New York and Washington can reach above 38 degrees Celsius. The National Weather Service has issued alert about it on Friday. During this, it told that 150 million people will be in its grip. Its impact will remain from the midwestern plains to the Atlantic coast.

Cooling centers opened

Extreme heat warnings have been issued in some parts of eastern Canada. New York City has opened 500 cooling centers to protect its inhabitants. Here the mayor Bill de Blasio said, “In reality, this situation is going to be very frightening on Saturday and Sunday. Take care of yourself If not needed, do not get out in summer. The situation is quite serious. ‘

Record breaking heat in in June

It is worth mentioning that in June this year many records of summer were broken.June was the hottest month in the world. It was the second consecutive month when record decrease in the thickness of the ice over Arctic was recorded. This month saw an increase of 0.95 degree centigrade. Because of this, it became the hottest in June in the last 140 years.

During this, tropical areas like Hawaii Island also received warmth. This was the second time since 1925 in America’s Alaska when June was the hottest month. Something similar happened in the Gulf of Mexico.
