2 cases of omicron variant found in Karnataka

Omicron, the new variant of Corona coming out in many countries of the world, has created panic. Now Omicron has entered the country as well. The Health Ministry said today that in the last 24 hours, two cases of Omicron have been reported in the country. Both the cases have been found in Karnataka. Of these, the age of one infected is 66 and the other is 46 years old. All their contacts have been identified and are being monitored. Protocol is being followed. It is being told that both the infected have received both the doses of the vaccine. The corona report of five people who came in contact with them has also come positive. Their samples have been sent for genome sequencing.

Meanwhile, Karnataka Health Minister Dr. K Sudhakar said that both samples were sent from Karnataka for genome sequencing, in which Omicron has been confirmed. One of them is a 66-year-old South African citizen. 24 primary and 240 secondary contacts who came in contact with them have been traced. The second person is a 46-year-old doctor. He has no travel history. Out of the primary and secondary contacts of the doctor, 5 people have tested positive for COVID-19. 6 people have been isolated and admitted to the hospital. No one has severe symptoms. These people are completely vaccinated.

The reports of both the infected were received late on Wednesday night. Both are undergoing treatment and are being monitored. The Health Ministry said that we do not have to create an atmosphere of fear. The vaccine is to be adopted following the corona protocol. The government is monitoring the situation.

No serious symptoms yet

Along with this, Joint Secretary in the Union Health Ministry, Luv Agarwal said that no serious symptoms of Omicron variant have been found so far. All Omicron related cases have so far shown mild symptoms. So far all such cases in the country and across the world have not shown any serious symptoms. WHO has said that the evidence coming out is being studied. So far, 373 cases of the Omicron variant have been reported in about 29 countries.
