Rafael Nadal pulls out from Wimbledon and Tokyo Olympic games

World number three tennis player Rafael Nadal on Thursday decided to pull out of the Wimbledon and Tokyo Olympics. For this, he cited his preparation and fitness. He said that the French Open has just ended. Wimbledon is about to begin two weeks later. Only 14 days have been kept between the two tournaments. Nadal said that it is not easy to recover the body so quickly after playing on the clay court. So it was impossible for him to play. 35-year-old Nadal said that ‘it was not easy for me to take this decision at all, but it was necessary to take this decision considering my body and to make my career bigger.’ He said that ‘I want to show my strength at the top level to achieve professional goals, because it gives me happiness.’

Earlier, Rafael Nadal, the King of Clay, had to face defeat in the semi-finals of the French Open Grand Slam last week. Serbian star Novak Djokovic defeated Nadal 3-6, 6-3, 7-6(4), 6-2 in a match that lasted more than four hours. Djokovic bounced back after losing the first set, shattering Nadal’s hopes of a 14th French Open and a record 21st Grand Slam title. Wimbledon will be played from June 28 this year. The prestigious tournament was canceled last year due to the coronavirus pandemic. At the same time, the Tokyo Olympics is starting from 23 July which will run till 8 August. Nadal won the gold medal at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
