Pant, Shardul face heavy fines over umpiring displeasure

There was a big ruckus in the 34th match of IPL 2022. In this match, Rajasthan Royals defeated Delhi Capitals team by 15 runs. But after this match, Delhi captain Rishabh Pant has come into the limelight. Due to not being given a no ball to a ball in the final over, Pant had indicated to call his players back from the field. After which he has now been given a heavy punishment.

Pant and Shardul fined match fees

Rishabh Pant had called back his players on the no ball controversy. After which a big controversy broke out on the field. But now Pant has been given a big punishment. IPL committee has fined Pant 100% of the match fee. Whereas Shardul Thakur, who was supporting him from the dugout, has also been fined 50% of the match fee. Both these players were trying to stop the match from the dug out.

What was the matter?

Rajasthan Royals had given a target of 223 runs to Delhi Capitals (DC) to win this match. Delhi had all but lost the match when team needed 36 runs in the last over. This was an impossible task for any batsman, but Delhi batsman Rovman Powell hit 3 sixes in the first three balls of Rajasthan Royals bowler Obed McCoy. The third ball was a full toss and there was no ball dispute over the same ball. The tight call could have gone either way, but when it didn’t go in favor of the chasing side, Delhi captain Rishabh Pant started calling his players out of the field. Due to this the match stopped for some time. In the end, Delhi lost this match.

In the 34th match of IPL 2022, Delhi Capitals lost by 15 runs in a thrilling match against Rajasthan Royals (DC vs RR). Due to a no ball, Delhi’s last hope of winning the match was also shattered. Delhi’s team has now lost 4 out of 7 matches and they are at the sixth position in the league table with 6 points.
