Uttarakhand government postpones decision to reopen Chardham Yatra

The Uttarakhand government has postponed its order to open the Char Dham Yatra for the people of Chamoli, Rudraprayag and Uttarkashi. In this regard, the cabinet minister of Tirath Singh Rawat government, Subodh Uniyal said, ‘The hearing is going on in the Nainital High Court regarding the Chardham Yatra. After June 16, the state government will reconsider opening the yatra.’

Earlier the Chardham Yatra was partially set to resume at district level by the government, but RT-PCR negative report was necessary. In the districts which were allowed to travel, the government had made a rule to visit Badrinath Dham of Chamoli district, Kedarnath of Rudraprayag district and Gangotri Yamunotri of Uttarkashi district. However, the government has now postponed the order. At present, in Kedarnath, Badrinath, Gangotri and Yamunotri, only priests are allowed to perform worship activities.

Corona curfew extended till June 22 with concessions in Uttarakhand

In view of the decrease in the cases of corona infection, the Uttarakhand government has announced to increase the corona curfew with some relaxation from June 15 to 22. Under the exemption given by the government, up to 20 cases can be heard in the revenue court. Apart from this, 50 people have been allowed in marriages and funerals. Vikram Auto has been allowed to run. On June 16, 18 and 21, shops of grocery, general merchants as well as other business establishments including liquor shops will also be opened. The opening time of these shops has been kept from eight in the morning to five in the evening. Apart from this, fruit, vegetable dairy and sweet shops will be able to open daily. The timings of these shops will also be from eight in the morning to five in the evening. Apart from this, stationery and book shops will also remain open on 16 and 21 June.
