Mumbai Mayor dons nurse uniform to boost morale of medical personnel

Doctors and medical staff are the largest corona warriors in the fight against Corona. To fight corona, doctors, nurses and staff are working day and night in hospitals. To boost the morale of his doctors, medical staff and nurses, Mumbai Mayor Kishori Pednekar herself took the duty as a nurse. Actually the Mayor of Mumbai used to work as a nurse in a government hospital in Mumbai before entering politics.

Kishori Pednekar worked as a nurse in a government hospital in Mumbai before starting his political career with the Shiv Sena party. Till 1992 and even after joining Shiv Sena, Kishori Pednekar worked as a nurse for a few years.

Kishori Pednekar met nursing students and boosted morale after performing a symbolic duty as a nurse at Nair Hospital in Mumbai. Mayor Kishori Pednekar said, ‘Medical staff nurses are the first to fight the Corona crisis and the Mumbai Metropolitan Municipality has assigned second and third year students as nursing staff so I had to boost their morale as Mayor.’

Kishori Pednekar is originally from Raigad district of Maharashtra but has lived in Mumbai for decades. In 2002, 2012 and 2017, Kishori Pednekar won the election and won. In 2019, Kishori Pednekar was elected the mayor of Mumbai. Kishori Pednekar is the first mayor in 88 years in the history of Mumbai Municipality against whom no candidate was fielded in the 2019 mayoral election.
