Schools in NCR to remain closed on Nov 14-15 due to pollution

The pollution level in Delhi-NCR has increased once again. Due to increasing pollution, Delhi-NCR schools have been closed for the next two days i.e. 14 and 15 November. The Environment Pollution (Prevention and Control) Authority extended the ban on hot-mix plants and stone-crushers in Delhi-NCR till 15 November. Earlier, on November 4, the Supreme Court had banned construction work in the area until further orders.

 

Earlier on Wednesday, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said that if the air quality continues to deteriorate further, the Odd-Even scheme can be continued further. Kejriwal said that he is concerned about the health of the people as well as the image of the country in front of the world due to air pollution. He said, we can extend the duration of the odd-even if needed.

Kejriwal said that when German Chancellor Angela Merkel was in Delhi last month, there was mist all around. Kejriwal said, Delhi is the national capital and if there is so much mist here, what message is going on in the world. There was mist all around when Merkel was here. What message would have gone from that? “The Delhi government has implemented the Odd-Even scheme from November 4 to November 15 to curb air pollution.
