Perseid meteor shower to be visible from August 11 to August 13

Wednesday to Friday nights are going to be special for astronomy lovers. On these nights there will be a golden opportunity to see the colorful view of sky fireworks i.e. meteor showers. During this time 50 to 100 meteors can be seen in an hour.

Dr. Shashibhushan Pandey, senior astronomer of Aryabhatta Observational Science Research Institute, said that meteor showers have a special place in exciting astronomical events. These are common astronomical events, sometimes large burning meteors reach the earth. This event peaks ten to 12 times a year, with dozens to hundreds of meteors being observed at an hourly rate.

This time the name of the meteor shower that is going to be on the peak between August 11 and 13 is Pershid Meteor Shower. In this meteor shower, scientists estimate that 50 to 100 meteors can be seen per hour, but it will not be possible to see it from the cities of light. For this, one has to go to dark areas away from electric lights. It can be seen better from mountainous areas.

The Perseid Meteor shower peaks in mid-August every year, while meteor showers begin in July and are observed until the end of August. But during this time the monsoon rains are also high. Due to which the weather makes it difficult to see this exciting event.

These fireworks are caused by Comet Swift Tuttle

The Perseid Meteor shower is caused by dusty pebble debris left on its path to Earth by a comet named Swift Tuttle. The Earth passes through this debris between July and August and burns up when meteors of this debris collide with the Earth’s atmosphere. Due to which a spectacular view is seen.
