This year, on the night of 30 August, a wonderful blue moon will be seen in the sky. Super Blue Moon is an astronomical phenomenon that occurs once in many years. However, seeing the blue moon is completely opposite to its name. When there is a blue moon, the moon appears light orange in colour. Its size appears bigger than normal days.

Why it is called blue moon?

Actually, it is called Blue Moon because it is the second full moon of the month, which is seen every 2 to 3 years. At the same time, NASA says that the moon can appear blue when there are particles in the air that are of the right size to filter out the red light.

What is a blue super moon?

Supermoon sightings are not a rare occurrence. There are usually three or four supermoons a year. Blue moons on the other hand occur very 2 to 3 years. However, having a blue supermoon is not common. Blue supermoons appear every 10 to 20 years. According to NASA, the next blue supermoon will be visible in the year 2037. The moon actually appearing blue is a very unusual phenomenon.

Today Full Moon, Supermoon and Blue Moon will appear together which is called Super Blue Moon. When the Super Blue Moon appears in the sky, the moon looks very beautiful in the sky. This will be visible in many countries of the world. In Britain, it will appear at 8:08 in the evening, then it will appear at 7:45 according to American time. It will be visible in India this evening after sunset from 8:30 pm.
