Janki Chatti-Yamunotri ropeway gets approval from cabinet

The way for ropeway construction from Janki Chatti (Kharsali) to Yamunotri has been cleared. The cabinet took several important decisions on Friday to construct the ropeway stuck since 2012. The company with which the dispute was going on, the seized bank guarantee and the land purchase money will be returned. The government itself will now pursue this project on PPP mode. According to sources, the cabinet has decided to return the seized back guarantee of  Rs 3.50 crore and the money of Rs 1.56 crore of the land purchased for the project to the company.

A special purpose vehicle (SPV) was formed to construct the project under the name Yamunotri Ropeway Project Company. Failure to start work at the level of private investors even for one and a half years, the company was asked for other documents including their financial documents. Since then, there was a dispute about the project. Which the cabinet has cleared away on Friday. Now the tourism department will conduct this project on PPP mode itself. The cabinet made it clear that now there will also be no change in the location of the scheme.
