Villagers in panic mode after more than 300 bats found dead in UP village

More than 300 bats were found dead in a garden in Belghat village of Khajani Range, a rural area of ​​Gorakhpur. There is a panic situation among the villagers due to sudden death of large number of bats. However, the cause of death of the bats is not clear. The Forest Department is prima facie stating the sudden increase in heat and lack of water could have resulted in their deaths.

Officers arrived at the scene

Large-scale bats were spotted dead in Dhruv Narayan Shahi’s garden in Belaghat in the morning. A crowd of villagers gathered on the spot in a while. The villagers are also terrified of bats due to corona infection. Khajani Ranger Devendra Kumar also reached the spot after getting the information at around 11 am. He collected all the dead bats and them for took them for postmortem. He said that the cause of death is not yet completely clear. This can happen due to sudden increase in heat. He says that all the ponds around it have dried up. In search of water, bats are wandering here and there. The bats would have died due to lack of water and the extreme heat from above. DFO Avinash Kumar said that the bats are being sent for postmortem. Only after the report comes something can be clearly stated.
