Nainital ropeway suffers technical snag, all passengers rescued

On Thursday, there was a technical breakdown in the ropeway running between Mallital to Snow View in Nainital. Due to which 13 passengers got stuck in the ropeway for an hour. Meanwhile, the employee of the control room also sent information about this technical problem to the higher officials.

As per information received, at around 3:30 pm on Thursday evening, the trolley from Mallital ropeway station moved towards Snowview carrying six foreign citizens, five school children of Nainital, a youth and an operator. The trolley had reached about 100 meters ahead of the station when suddenly there was a sound of something breaking in the counter site of the ropeway. On hearing the loud sound, the technical worker saw that a bearing was found broken.

Rescued the tourists safely

Seeing this, the trolley was stopped midway as a precaution. Soon, KMVN personnel started the rescue operation with the help of rope and equipment. The staff took the children one by one and brought them down safely, after which the foreign tourists were also taken down safely. Within about an hour everyone was safely offloaded. Employees are working to solve the technical problem. It is expected that the trolley operation will be started on Friday.
