Monsoon weakened in Uttarakhand, chances of departure soon with light showers

Monsoon has now started weakening in Uttarakhand. In most areas, light to moderate showers are occurring at isolated places between sunshine and clouds. However, light showers may continue for the next five days. According to the Meteorological Department, most areas across the state may remain partly cloudy. Monsoon is expected to depart in the first week of October.

On Sunday, there was light sunshine amidst partial clouds across the state. At some places, especially in Kumaon, one to two rounds of shower were recorded. There was drizzle amidst clouds in most areas of Garhwal including Dehradun. During this period the temperature remained around normal. Meanwhile, the process of departure of monsoon from Rajasthan has started. After this, monsoon may also depart from Uttarakhand within about a week to 10 days.

According to Bikram Singh, Director of Meteorological Center, the weather pattern in the state is expected to remain similar for the next few days. Most areas may remain partly cloudy. There is a possibility of rain and thundershowers in Dehradun, Nainital, Champawat, Bageshwar and Pithoragarh. In the plains, cloudy weather may prevail. There are chances of departure of monsoon in the first week of October.
