Amul, Mother Dairy increase milk prices

Amul, the country’s leading milk supplier after Mother Dairy, has also decided to raise the price of milk by two rupees per liter in Gujarat, Delhi-NCR, West Bengal and Maharashtra on Saturday. The Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF), which sells dairy products under the Amul brand, said in a statement, “It has raised milk prices in Ahmedabad and Saurashtra, Delhi-NCR, West Bengal, Mumbai and Maharashtra by up to Rs. 2 per liter in Gujarat. “The new rates will be effective from 15 December 2019.”

In Ahmedabad, half a liter Amul Gold pack will be priced at Rs 28 and Amul Fresh pack for Rs 22. However, there is no change in the price of Amul Shakti. Its half liter pack will be available for Rs 25 only.

Amul said that in the last three years it has made only two changes in the price of packaged milk. “This year the price of animal feed has increased by more than 35 percent. This step has been taken keeping in mind the increase in the price of feed and other costs,” the statement said.

GCMMF said, the price of milk has been increased by Rs 2 per liter to increase the production of milk and to provide remunerative prices to the milk producers due to increase in the cost of raw materials. Earlier, Mother Dairy on Saturday announced an increase in milk prices by Rs 3 per liter in Delhi-NCR. The company said the increased rates will come into effect from Sunday.
