Harela 2022: Forest department targets to plant 15 lakh saplings across the state

Like previous years, this year also, Harela festival will be celebrated with great enthusiasm across the state on 16th July. During this, the Forest Department has set a target of planting more than 15 lakh saplings across the state. Under this, for the first time more than 50 percent fruit trees will be planted on this festival. In this regard, Forest Minister Subodh Uniyal took a meeting of forest officers across the state on Monday.

Addressing the journalists after the meeting held at Manthan Auditorium in the Forest Headquarters Complex, Rajpur Road, Forest Minister Subodh Uniyal said that this time the plants would be selected according to the geographical and environmental conditions of the area. For this, the plant and technology will be made available by the Forest Department.

Emphasis will be laid on increasing the participation of schools, colleges and forest panchayats on Harela festival. Efforts will be made to ensure that the saplings remain alive after planting and the society will benefit from them in the coming times. The Forest Minister said that with a view to strengthen the Van Panchayats, fruitful plantation is being promoted this time so that the livelihood of the people there can be linked to them in future. He said that the Divisional Forest Officers of the entire state were involved in the meeting through video conferencing.

75 trees will be planted in every forest panchayat

Everyone submitted a report about their preparations for the Harela festival. This has given them hope that this year the results of Harela will be better than other years. He said that the Chief Minister at the state level and ministers in charge at the district level, MPs, MLAs, environmentalists and social workers would be invited to the programme. 75 trees will be planted in every Van Panchayat. He said that the state has a big responsibility to save the environment. Therefore, realizing this responsibility, efforts are being made to link it with the livelihood of the people.
