Ukraine agrees to discuss with Russia at Belarus border

Today is the fourth day of war between Russia and Ukraine. Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has agreed to negotiate with Russia on the Belarus border. Before this Ukraine was unwilling to talk to Moscow at the Belarusian border. Russia said on Sunday that Ukraine has agreed to send a team to Belarus to negotiate an end to the Russian military operation.

Kiev has confirmed planned talks in the Gomel region, which is close to the borders of both Russia and Ukraine. Russian chief negotiator Vladimir Medinsky has given this information to reporters.

Russia guarantees 100% security to Ukrainian delegation

“We are now deciding the logistics and the exact location of the summit,” said Medinsky, an aide to President Vladimir Putin and former culture minister. Also said that ‘we guarantee that the travel route for talks will be 100 percent safe. We will wait for the Ukrainian delegation.’

The Russian team arrived in Gomel on Sunday, where it said talks with the Ukrainians were planned. Kiev denied this, saying it wanted to negotiate on a “neutral basis”, arguing that Russian troops were using Belarus territory as a launchpad to attack Ukraine.

Russia has surrounded two more cities in the south and southeast of Ukraine, according to the news agency AFP. Russian forces attacked Kharkiv after blowing up a gas pipeline in the city earlier in the day.
