Government to provide compensation to weather affected farmers

Khatima/Udham Singh Nagar: The Government has decided to provide compensation to farmers effected by natural disasters in the tehsil of Khatima. Funds upto a tune of Rs. 4 crore have also been allocated for the same. The only condition is that the farm land must be registered under the name of the farmer.

The Revenue department conducted a tehsil wide survey to assess the damage caused by unseasonal rainfall and hailstorm which cause destruction of wheat crops in the region. The State Bank of India has issued cheque books (packed in 5 trunks) for the distribution of relief money. A 1500 rupee cheque would be issued to every farmer effected. According to Tehsildar Bhagwati Joshi, the cheques would be issued to only those farmers who are registered as the rightful land owners in the revenue departments record books.
