Schools in Udham Singh Nagar to be closed till Jan 10 due to cold wave forecast

Cold wave continues in Udham Singh Nagar, plains district of Uttarakhand. The severe cold has impacted everyday activities. There is heavy fog cover in the plains. Life has become disrupted due to cold wave and fog. Vehicles are moving slowly on the roads. School going children have been hit the hardest by the cold. Keeping in mind the health of children, the district administration has taken a big decision.

Announcement of holiday in Anganwadi centers and schools

District Magistrate Uday Raj Singh has issued instructions to keep schools and Anganwadi centers in the district closed till January 10, 2024. He said that keeping in mind the warning of the Meteorological Department, the decision to declare holiday in schools was taken. The District Magistrate said that government and non-government schools up to Intermediate will not open till January 10, 2024. In view of the cold wave, the Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert. Visibility has reduced due to fog in Udham Singh Nagar.

Meteorological department alert in view of cold wave

The weather department had issued a cold wave warning in Udham Singh Nagar. In view of the fog, Uttarakhand Meteorological Department had issued a yellow alert in Udham Singh Nagar and Nainital. There is dense fog in Udham Singh Nagar in the morning and evening. People are also facing problems in driving due to low visibility. Keeping in view the problems of children, holidays have been declared in Anganwadi centres, government and non-government schools till January 10, 2024.
