Indian team announced for Australia series, Ashwin returns

India has announced its squad for the three-match ODI series against Australia. Chief selector Ajit Agarkar announced the 15-member squad in a press conference on Monday. Many players have been rested first two ODI’s of this series. KL Rahul will take command of the team in place of regular captain Rohit Sharma. Ravindra Jadeja will be the vice-captain during this period. Rohit will be seen captaining in the third ODI. Veteran spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has returned to the ODI team. This is the last series between India and Australia before the ODI World Cup 2023, which will be a dress rehearsal for both.

Apart from Rohit, Virat Kohli, Hardik Pandya, Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav have been rested in the first two ODIs. All of them will play in the third ODI. Ruturaj Gaikwad will not be a part of the third ODI. However, the relief for India is that middle-order batsman Shreyas Iyer will play in the upcoming series. Iyer could take the field in only two matches in Asia Cup 2023. After this, Iyer did not play in other matches due to stiffness. At the same time, Akshar did not play due to strain in the thigh muscle. He is part of the third ODI team.
