Uttarakhand governor inaugurates book fair at Parade ground

Dehradun: K K Paul, the governor of Uttarakhand inaugurated the book fair being organized by the National Book Trust at the Parade Ground in the state capital on Saturday.

The fair, which has been organized by the National Book Trust (NBT) in association with the district administration and the sports directorate will continue till September 20. Addressing the gathering after inaugurating the fair, the governor said that he was hopeful that the fair will help in attracting more people towards books.

He added that it was important to translate books written in Hindi and other regional languages into English in order to increase the scope of these works and increase their readership. On the challenge posed by the internet towards books, he said that the publishing industry should work in collusion with the government to raise awareness among the youth towards reading.
