Kings XI Punjab re-brands itself as Punjab Kings

Kings XI Punjab, the franchise team of the Indian Premier League (IPL), has changed its name and official logo. The new name of this franchise team has been ‘Punjab Kings’. The team made the announcement a day before the mini auction for the 14th season of the IPL. The news of changing the team’s name and logo had already arrived.

For the 14th season of the IPL, 292 players will be bid in the mini auction. The players’ bid in Chennai will be announced on February 18, a day before the new team logo was released on Wednesday. Speaking on the brand’s new identity, the team’s chief executive officer (CEO) Satish Menon said, “Punjab Kings is a more developed brand name, and we think this is the right time for us to focus on the core brand.”

The team of Mohit Burman, Ness Wadia, Preity Zinta and Karan Paul is yet to win the IPL title. The team was runner-up once for the first season of this league (2008) and once finished third. The IPL is to be played in April this year.
