This ranking is released twice a year. The indices are released for the first time in January and for the second time in July. According to the website of Henley Passport Visa Index – realtime data is updated throughout the year. Changes in visa policy are also taken into account. The data is taken from the International Transport Association (IATA).

The ranking is based on how many other countries a passport holder of a country can travel to without obtaining a prior visa. For this, they will not need to get a visa in advance.
