PM Modi to chair meeting to review Corona situation in the country

Corona cases are increasing rapidly in the country. In view of this, PM Narendra Modi will hold an important meeting today at 4.30 pm, in which he will review the situation of Covid-19 in the country and take stock of the preparations. The positivity rate in the country has crossed 10. In such a situation, it can also be recommended to take strict steps like lockdown during the meeting.

Asked to maintain stock of medicine-oxygen

Earlier, on 22 December, PM Modi had a high level review meeting with the officers regarding the Omicron variant of Corona in the country. The meeting, which lasted for about an hour, was attended by officers of many departments including the Health Ministry. The Prime Minister took stock of the preparations of the government along with taking information about the situation. The PM had also instructed the officers to increase the stock of medicines and oxygen. Along with this, emphasis was also given on improving the health infrastructure by increasing testing and tracing.

In this meeting, the PM had asked for maximum use of IT tools for the supply of vaccines and medicines in remote areas. Modi told the officers that it is important for the states to ensure that the oxygen supply equipments are fully functional. There should be no negligence in this.

1.59 lakh cases came on Saturday

In the third wave of corona pandemic in the country, the number of infections has crossed the 1.5 lakh mark for the first time. In 24 hours, 1,59,424 cases of infection have been reported and 327 people have died. Today more than 40,000 people have also recovered.

At the same time, talking about the states, Maharashtra (41,434), Delhi (20,181) and Bengal (18,802) have got the maximum number of infected. In the top 10 states alone, more than 1.26 lakh people have come under the grip of infection. So far 3.55 crore people have been hit by the pandemic in the country. At the same time, the figure of those recovering is 3.44 crores. At present, the total number of active cases in the country is 5,84,580.
