One killed in cloudburst near Chakrata

A villager was reportedly killed in a cloudburst that wreaked havoc in several villages in the Jaunsar Bhawar region of the Chakrata block in Dehradun last evening. Several heads of cattle also perished while roads were damaged and covered with debris.

According to villagers, the cloudburst occurred near Koran and Kot Gadd ravine (Khud) where around 2 km of the road was damaged. The Dangoori-Penwa road was damaged and covered with mud debris falling on it due to the cloudburst. Several vehicles were stuck in mud between Savda and Rota Khud.

Several sheep and goats reportedly perished while massive hailstorm damaged standing crops and washed away fields. The administration deployed a JCB machine to clear roads of mud. A 2-km stretch of the Kerad-Daragad road was damaged completely.
