Temperatures rise across state; breaks decade old record in Doon

Even though the weather is pleasant due to light rain in the hilly areas, the heat has started showing its effect in the plains. On Thursday, the maximum temperature of the capital Doon broke the record of ten years. In other districts of the state also, an increase of three to four degrees in maximum temperature was recorded.

On Thursday, the maximum temperature of Doon was recorded at 34.9 degrees, which is five degrees more than normal. Earlier in 2014, the temperature on this day was 31.2 degrees. The effect of the heat during the day was visible even at night. Due to this, the minimum temperature at night also increased by four degrees to 18.8. On Friday, the maximum temperature of Doon is expected to be 34 degrees and the minimum temperature will be 20 degrees.

Chances of change in weather in mountainous areas tomorrow

There is a possibility of snowfall in the hilly areas of the state on Friday. The Meteorological Center has predicted light rain in some areas of Dehradun including Uttarkashi, Chamoli, Rudraprayag, Bageshwar, Pithoragarh, Tehri and Pauri districts. There are also chances of snowfall in areas at a height of more than four thousand meters. The Center has issued a yellow alert for lightning and hailstorm along with wind speed of 50 kilometers per hour in some areas of these districts.
