Nation wide doctor strike enters third day against NMC bill

The protest against the National Medical Commission Bill is continuing. AIIMS doctors in Delhi are on strike on the third day. The Narendra Modi led central government passed the NMC bill in Rajya Sabha on Thursday, while the bill was passed in the Lok Sabha on July 29. Doctors across the country are performing in protest against this bill.

Due to the strike of doctors, health services are completely closed. Patients have to bear the brunt of this. Patients are facing problems due to the strike. Suman, who came from Ganga Nagar had come to treat her son’s paralyzed, but has been troubled for 4 days, treatment is not happening.

In place of the Medical Council of India (MCI), the Modi Government has been able to pass the National Medical Commission (NMC) Bill also in the Rajya Sabha. On the other hand, doctors across the country came to the streets against this bill and on Thursday most of the doctors were on strike.

Doctors across the country are on strike in protest of the National Medical Commission Bill (NMC). Union Health Minister Ashwani Chaube has asked the doctors not to go on strike. He said that this bill is in the interest of doctors.

Despite the opposition, the government managed to pass this bill in the Rajya Sabha on Thursday, whereas on July 29 the bill was passed in the Lok Sabha. After passing the bill, National Medical Commission will be formed in the next 3 years.

Earlier, MCI had work related to admission, medical education, registration of doctors, but after passing this bill, all this work will go to NMC. In this way MCI will replace the National Medical Commission.

Union Cabinet apprised the Bill on July 17. The main purpose of the bill is to set up a medical commission in place of the Medical Council of India (MCI). It is said that this will repeal the Indian Medical Council Act 1956.

The Medical Commission will regulate all charges for 50% seats in private medical colleges and deemed universities. Thereby being expected to reduce the entry fee.
