Government makes Aarogya Setu app code open source

The Arogya Setu app, designed for protection from the coronavirus and tracing of the infected, has gained much popularity worldwide. So far, over 11 crore people have downloaded this app across the country. However, in the past, a lot of questions were raised about the privacy of this app. Many big ethical hackers have also questioned the privacy of the app. The source code of this app has now been made public on the demand of the people. Currently the Android version of the Arogya Setu app has been made open source. After this, the source code of iOS and KaiOS versions will also be released. NITI Aayog has given this information through a press conference.

Those who find bugs in code will  get reward

The government has also launched a bug bounty program to find bugs in the app, under which a reward of one lakh rupees will be given for finding a bug in the Arogya Setu app. The government welcomed all the developers and said that if anyone has any question or any suggestion about the app, then it is welcome. In this app, prize money has been kept in four categories for those who find technical glitches. In Arogya Setu, a reward of Rs 1 lakh has been kept in three categories of security, while those who suggest improvements in the code will also get a reward of Rs 1 lakh. The biggest advantage of making the app’s source code public is that the security system of this app will be improved even more.
