US winter storm: Thousands left without power as temperatures plummet

Along with the corona virus, cold has also started wreaking havoc on people in America. People in the country are battling with severe cold wave. Several US flights were canceled on Thursday before the Christmas holiday due to heavy snow and freezing temperatures. At least 34 people have reportedly died in America and four in Canada due to the Arctic storm.

The 57th Governor of New York State urged people to stay home and stay safe.

In many areas of America, mercury has dropped below zero degrees. Buffalo and New York City are most affected by this dreadful cold. Due to the snow storm, 1,707 domestic and international flights had to be canceled in the US on Sunday.

As per the BBC report, the snow storm has thrown everything into disarray. Out-of-control snowfall disrupted power supply in large parts of the US and Canada. At least two million consumers in the US were without power as of Sunday afternoon. Power supply is disrupted in 6,500 homes in North Carolina and 34,000 homes in New York.
