India becomes second nation to administer 200 crore vaccination doses

A new record of corona vaccination was set in the country on Sunday. The total number of vaccine doses administered in India reached two billion on Sunday. With this, India has become the second country to give more than two hundred crore doses to its population. Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated the countrymen on this occasion.

PA Modi tweeted, ‘India again created history. Congratulations to all Indians on crossing the special mark of 200 crore vaccine doses. Proud of those who contributed to making India’s vaccination campaign unique. This has strengthened the global fight against Corona. He said, throughout the rollout of the vaccine, the people of India have shown remarkable faith in science. Our doctors, nurses, frontline workers, scientists, innovators and entrepreneurs have played a vital role in ensuring a safer planet. I appreciate his spirit and determination.’

So far, more doses of corona vaccine have been applied in China than in India. Where more than three billion doses have been given so far. More than 3.4 billion doses have now been given in China. On this occasion, Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya tweeted and said, ‘July 17, 2022..This day will always be remembered. He said, it is a matter of pride for us that India has so far administered 2 billion corona doses to the people. I congratulate the health workers and citizens on this achievement.’

How did corona vaccination proceed in the country?

Exactly 18 months before today, on 16 January 2021, the use of the biggest weapon in the war against Corona started in the country. Vaccination started in the country. First of all, vaccination of front line workers and elderly people suffering from serious illness started. In the first week itself, 12,43,013 vaccine doses were given. After this, the speed of corona vaccination kept increasing week after week. The week of 13 to 19 March 2021 was the first week in which more than one crore people were vaccinated. However, when the second wave of corona came in May 2021, the pace of vaccination had slowed down. Every week vaccination which had increased to 20 million. It came down to less than one crore.

When was the vaccination rate highest?

In the middle of the second wave, the pace of vaccination increased again. By this time the vaccination of adults in 18 to 59 age group had also begun. A record more than four crore people were vaccinated in the country from 19 to 25 June. This record was broken in August. For the first time, more than 50 million people were vaccinated between August 28 and September 3. So during September 11 to 17, this figure reached more than six crores.

After this the speed of vaccination started decreasing again. In the last week of October, it came down to 2.43 crores. Till the first fortnight of November, December and January, this speed remained between four and five crores per week. During 22 to 28 January, it again came down to below four crores. Thereafter, the weekly vaccination schedule continued to decrease.
