Indian squad for World Test Championship finals announced

The senior selection committee of the BCCI has announced India’s test team for the inaugural World Test Championship final to be held in June this year on Friday. The selection committee has also selected a test team for the five-match Test series against England. After the World Test Championship final in June, the Indian team has to play a Test series against England.

The final of the World Test Championship will be held in Southampton from 18 to 22 June and thereafter a five-match Test series will be played from 4 August to 14 September. Star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has returned to India’s 20-member Test team. At the same time, Hardik Pandya, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Kuldeep Yadav failed to make a place in the team.

All-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, who has overcome fitness problems, and batsman Hanuma Vihari have returned to India’s 20-member Test squad for the World Test Championship final against New Zealand next month and a five-match series against England.

The selectors have also put Abhimanyu Easwaran, Prasidh Krishna, Avesh Khan and Arzan Nagwaswalla in the team as standby. KL Rahul, who has undergone appendix operation and Wriddhiman Saha, has been placed in the team provided they are fully fit. Jadeja and Vihari were hurt during the Australia tour. The World Test Championship final against New Zealand will be played in Southampton on 18 June, while the series against England will begin on 4 August.

Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Akshar Patel, Washington Sundar, Jaspreet Bumrah, Ishant Sharma, Mohammed Shami, Mohammed Siraj, Shardul Thakur, Umesh Yadav, KL Rahul (subject to fitness clearance), Riddhiman Saha (wicketkeeper, under fitness clearance).
