Weather changed in hilly areas, snowfall in Yamunotri and Auli
The weather changed in the hilly districts of Uttarakhand on Tuesday afternoon. There was snowfall in Kharshali village, Jankichatti, Narayan Puri including Yamunotri Dham. On the other hand, the weather in Auli also became pleasant due to snowfall. The maximum temperature in Auli was nine degrees and the minimum is minus two. The temperature in Badrinath Dham reached a maximum three degrees and minimum minus four. The maximum temperature of Joshimath was 12 degrees and minimum is seven degrees. The temperature in Kedarnath has also reached minus seven degrees. At the same time, after snowfall in the mountains, cold has increased in the plains.
Snowfall alert in high altitude areas
There is a possibility of light rain in some areas of Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Bageshwar and Pithoragarh districts. Whereas, snowfall may occur in areas at an altitude of more than three thousand meters.
According to the forecast issued by the Meteorological Center, there will be partly cloudy sky across the state on December 12. Whereas, there will be fog in the plains in the morning. Director of Meteorological Center Bikram Singh said, the temperature had dropped due to light rain and snowfall in the beginning of December.
After that, for about a week the maximum temperature across the state was recorded one-two degrees Celsius higher. In such a situation, there are chances of change in weather in high altitude areas on Tuesday. Due to rain and snowfall in the hilly districts, the temperature in the plains will also fall.
Winter rain is necessary for snowfall
Winter rain is essential for snowfall to occur. But, except for a few days, there has been no significant rainfall in any district of the state since November. Meteorologists say that last year too, due to lack of winter rain, very little snowfall was seen in the hilly districts in November and December.
If good winter rainfall figures are recorded in the hilly districts in December, it will be good for snowfall. Due to this, along with recharging the glacier, the water level of the rivers will also increase. It will have a direct impact on the temperature in the coming days.
