BSNL planning to upgrade mobile numbers from 10 digits to 13

From July 1, BSNL’s new mobile number will be 13 digits instead of 10. At the same time, old mobile numbers will be updated under this process by December this year. The Central Information Ministry has issued instructions to all the states for this new arrangement and BSNL has started work on it.

According to departmental sources, it was decided to implement this arrangement during the meeting held in Delhi last week. The discussion is that the scope of the new mobile numbers has now been completed at the level of 10 points, which is why the new series is being started. By the end of this year, the old ten digit mobile numbers will also be converted into 13 digits.

However, how the current numbers will be changed, this process has not been decided yet. The number will remain the same, but the digit will be added ahead or backward, there is no information about it yet. According to BSNL GM (Mobile) SK Singh, we have not received any instructions in this regard yet. Such news is being heard through social media only. The situation will be clear only after getting directions from the Department of Telecommunications.
