Stock market update 27 January: Sensex slips over 850 points

The Indian stock market saw a huge decline on the fifth and last trading day of the week, i.e. Friday (January 27). The Sensex fell more than 874 points to close at 59,330. At the same time, the Nifty has fallen by 287 points to 17,575. This is the decline in the market for the second consecutive trading day. Of the 30 Sensex stocks, 22 saw a decline. At the same time, only 8 stocks closed in green.

Shares of Adani Group companies fell the most

The biggest decline was seen in the shares of Adani Group companies. Adani Transmission, Adani Total Gas and Adani Green Energy declined by 20-20%. Adani Enterprises fell 18.31%, Adani Ports 15.24%, Adani Wilmar and Adani Power 5-5% each. Investors have lost Rs 6.8 lakh crore due to the fall in the market. The market cap of BSE listed companies has come down to Rs 269.7 lakh crore.

SBI and ICICI Bank top losers of Nifty-50

Adani Enterprises, Adani Ports, SBI, ICICI Bank, IndusInd Bank, ONGC and BPCL saw a decline in 37 stocks of Nifty-50. On the other hand, 12 stocks of Nifty-50, including Tata Motors, Bajaj Auto, Dr Reddy, ITC, Cipla, Divis Lab, Apollo Hospital, gained momentum.

PSU bank sector declined by 5.43%

Out of 11 sectoral indices of NSE, 8 saw a decline. The PSU bank sector declined the most by 5.43%. Apart from this, there was a decline of more than 4% in metal, 3% in bank, financial services and private bank sector by 2% each. There was also a decline in the IT, realty and media sectors. At the same time, there was a boom in the auto, pharma and FMCG sectors.

The market was closed in red on Wednesday

A day before this, on January 26, the market was closed on the occasion of Republic Day. At the same time, there was a huge decline in the stock market on the third trading day of the week, i.e. Wednesday (January 25). The Sensex fell 773 points to close at 60,205. At the same time, the Nifty closed at 17,891 with a fall of 226 points.
