Students to get Honorarium even on internships from other medical colleges

The order of the Information Commission for the students who took MBBS course from three government medical colleges of the state has brought relief. Now those MBBS students can also expect of getting honorarium, who do internships from other colleges. The Commission has asked the medical education to send a copy of the order, considering the system so that no student should take the assistance of the RTI to get an internship.

This case is related to the State Medical College, Haldwani. Here, a student who did MBBS from Government Medical College, Srinagar, did an internship and he did not get the benefit of honorarium in this period. When he asked for information about it in the RTI, he did not receive satisfactory answers. After this, the matter came to the Information Commission, then State Information Commissioner Surendra Singh Rawat summoned the Public Information Officer / Principal and the Appellate Authority / Principal.
The principal present before the commission said that if a student of MBBS does internships from other colleges other than his college, then he is not given stipend (honorarium). With this, he also told that a mandate has been issued in Uttar Pradesh, where arrangements have been made to give honorarium to the concerned student from the medical college.

Commissioner Surendra Singh Rawat said in his comment that it is not appropriate to give honorarium to any MBBS student on the basis that he has done internship by going to another college. Such arrangements can be made that the concerned college will send the amount of honorarium to the other college for the honor of his student. In order to apply this system to the three government medical colleges in the state, the copy of the order was sent to the Secretary of Medical Education.
