Alaknanda river water in Ringar five kilometers from Srinagar are not fit to drink even for animals let alone humans. This is revealed by the report of ‘District Water Quality Testing and Monitoring Laboratory’. In the investigation, the lethal bacteria are found in Alaknanda’s water.

‘District Water Quality Testing and Monitoring Laboratory’ had taken samples of water from the dam area of ​​Srinagar hydro power project from different places till the project’s power house on March 29. Before the project’s power house in the probe, the quantity of e-coli bacteria per 100 ml in the water was 10299. Whereas MPN Coliform was measured 2419 per 100 ml.
